TMC has been named a 2018 LGBTQ healthcare Equality Leader by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, a civil rights organization, on its 2018 Healthcare Equality Index.
LGBTQ Patient Advocacy and Navigation
Our LGBTQ Patient Advocacy Program focuses on the special needs of the Transgender population but can assist the whole LGBTQ community in navigating the healthcare setting. These services include assistance in finding a primary care provider, assisting in referrals to specialty services to include Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery, Counseling / Mental Health, HIV/AIDS and PrEP, and Financial Counseling services for payment of services and in finding insurance.

Gender Pathway Services at Children’s Mercy Hospital
Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City provides interdisciplinary, family-centered services for transgender, gender-variant, and gender-questioning children. Gender Pathway Services are aimed at supporting the physical, mental, and social health of patients and their families as they navigate the process of gender identity development.
Good Samaritan Project
Founded on the front lines of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Good Samaritan Project is a powerful force and friend to KC communities by mobilizing volunteers across the metro area to provide prevention and education services. Additionally, GSP provides those with HIV/AIDS long-term access to compassionate care and management options.
GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality

Kansas City Anti-Violence Project
The Kansas City Anti-Violence Project is committed to providing domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate crimes advocacy and education to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community. The organization offers a 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling services, and emergency assistance.
Kansas City Center for Inclusion
The Kansas City Center for Inclusion’s mission is to operate exclusively for charitable purposes by providing a safe, welcoming community space where LGBTQ+ individuals, their families, friends, and straight allies can come for education, resources, and activities; and by providing community outreach in building a cohesive LGBTQ+ community in the Midwest.
PFLAG Kansas City is a robust local chapter of PFLAG, the nation’s foremost family-based organization committed to the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. PFLAG Kansas City offers help for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQIA) youth, their families, and communities around the topics of sexual orientation and gender identity.
Planned Parenthood Great Plains provides access to sexual and reproductive healthcare to men, women, and families in the KC metro region regardless of anyone’s ability to pay. They also provide cancer and STD screenings, as well as being one of the region’s largest providers of transgender healthcare, including hormone replacement therapy.
SOFFA (Significant Others, Family, Friends, and Allies) of Transgender Persons is a support group for people who are the significant other, spouse, friends, allies, family, children of, parents of, any relative of transgender people. Meetings are twice per month, and there is a private Facebook group. Consult the link above to attain the most recent information about meeting times.
The Transgender Institute
The Transgender Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, is a gender therapy and coaching organization dedicated to serving the transgender population. It offers in-office consultation, off-site training, coaching and therapy sessions, as well as online sessions for individuals, couples, teens, and children.
Transas City was created to serve as a research and fact-based site to benefit transgender and transsexual persons and their families, friends, allies, and supporters. It also includes transgender-related topics and events within the broad Kansas City area.
TrueGender is a nonprofit organization that offers funding and resources to help transgender persons with transitioning and support, regardless of age or progress of transition. TrueGender also offers resources such as mentorship programs, gender expression banks, clothing swaps, classes, and various workshops and support groups for transgender persons or families.
The Union KC
The Union is a support, social and resource group that caters to the FTM community. The brotherhood is located in and primarily serves Kansas City, Missouri and the surrounding metropolitan areas but also provides a presence and assistance to those in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
